God's Greatest Command

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

              Matthew 22:37-40

Today I want you to look at God's greatest commandment.  When we place God first in our lives, this is the way to become the kind of person God wants us to be.  When God is our number one focus in everything we do,  everything else in our lives will fall into place.  And when we love and respect others as we do ourselves, we are placing both God and others before ourselves, which is exactly the kind of behavior that God is expecting from each of us.  When we follow this commandment both at home and in our business we will be obeying God's commands.  God does not just give us this command to follow only at home, but gives it to us to use in all aspects of our lives, including our life in the business world.  If you cannot lead your family, and put all the aspects of leadership into practice in your family situation, how are you going to lead others?   Real leadership begins with how you manage your affairs at home, and how effectively you handle the pressures of family life, and the relationships with your wife or husband and your children, will determine how well you are going to manage the other parts of your life.  This is something that my grandparents taught me, as I believe that they had mastered the art of how we must treat others.    This means that although we may be leaders, we are truly servants to others, as when we place our God, our family,   and others before ourselves we are fulfilling God's command.
